Founded in 2025, TangleHouse Learning is a unique drop-off program designed for high school homeschool students seeking a rigorous and engaging educational environment. With a strong focus on composition, literary analysis, and critical thinking, we provide a secular, inclusive learning environment where students of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences feel welcome, valued, and empowered.
At TangleHouse, we believe that English education should go beyond grammar drills and book reports. Our English program immerses students in classic and contemporary literature, teaching them to analyze texts thoughtfully and express their ideas with confidence. Through fiction, poetry, persuasive, and argumentative writing, students develop strong composition skills that prepare them for college, careers, and beyond. Our local government course educates students on their local leadership and prepares them to be knowledgeable and active members of their community.
At TangleHouse, we believe education is more than just sitting in a classroom — it’s a way to understand humanity, challenge perspectives, and develop empathy. We’re here to help students find their voices, engage with the world they live in, and learn as much as they can.

Summerly Sherlock has over a decade of experience in communications and is deeply passionate about local government, civic engagement, and empowering students to become informed citizens. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of South Florida and a Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Administration from Mississippi State University, specializing in local government.
Summerly teaches a course focused on local government that helps high school students become engaged and informed citizens. Originally from a small beach town in Florida, she understands the importance of involvement in local governance. At 12, she gathered signatures, petitioned, and advocated against a proposal to change wake zones in her community’s waterways. This experience fueled her passion for local government and demonstrated how public policy can encourage critical thinking and strengthen community connections, regardless of age.
In her spare time, Summerly enjoys spending time outdoors, visiting local coffee shops, gardening with her backyard chickens, and creating lasting memories with her family.
